Oil Painting

Since Antonina first started painting in oils in 2000, she was drawn to painting the human face. Never striving to become a hyper realist painter, with her paintings, Antonina attempts to convey some of the exterior likenesses of her subjects and their interior qualities as well.

Some of the portraits are fictitious and though they start out from an inspirational photograph they often turn into a poignant portrayal of a specific time period in Antonina's life. A few of these portraits have literally travelled the world with her, moving from country to country and changing, growing as she does with time and experience.
